50 Cent’s “In Da Club” Lawsuit Against Rick Ross Is Dismissed by a Judge

Accord to report, a federal judge has reportedly dropped a 50 Cent’s 2015 copyright lawsuit against Rick Ross. The lawsuit pertained to Rozay’s use of 50’s 2003 single “In Da Club” on his mixtape.
Ross used Fif’s beat on a freestyle, which was on his Renzel Remixes which was released in Nov. 2015. 50 filed the lawsuit the following month, alleging that the rapper did not have clearing to repurpose his song. A judge ultimately tossed 50 Cent’s case because he didn’t actually own the copyright or masters for the hit single.
Rick Ross previously spoke about his lawsuit with 50 Cent during a 2015 interview with Ebro Darden on Hot 97’s “Ebro in the Morning,” saying that the “situation is dead.”
“It’s beneath me on a lot of levels,” Ross said at the time. “I made that statement on IG and I meant it… it’s the truth and I meant it. And I’m still processing the application, and if you ever want to see Rozay you could book me. I’ll come to you mama house…I’ll bring Wingstop too. So for the 20th time, I never entertain that, you should never entertain that. Rozay ain’t nobody you want to come see. That’s just life.”
