Laser-focused, she walked and worked her way up amongst several contenders as though stardust had been sprinkled on her as they all watched the doyenne emerge winner of the beauty contest. Although being crowned Culturati Ambassador 2019 could be seen as picture-perfect but Abisola Salawu, the musician cum fashion designer, dancer and model did put in the shift to winning yet another honor.

“Competing for Culturati Ambassador taught me a lot, especially being in the Bootcamp with 24 other ladies for two weeks and still be calm and composed amongst people with different personalities. We had several rehearsals, grooming, tasks, interactive sessions, and cultural displays. And it’s been a wonderful experience so far, bringing me closer to the African culture than I ever imagined.

‘Culturati’ rebranded from ‘Sisi Oge’ this year for its 12th edition is aimed at fusing culture with business, which is yet to be explored. As the current winner, my project will include empowering young creative and providing a better avenue for cultural integration. It is high time we appreciated our cultural values; we need to preserve it for other generations to come. From workshops to seminars, my projects will promote African culture to the world” – Abisola Salawu
