Outside the city of Lagos, Aba in Abia state is key to the bottom–line of most brands. As a major (commercial) metropolitan area, the consumption of radio broadcast is on the high while the influence of the OAP’s running commentaries and dictating narratives can’t be overemphasized. One of the few radio personalities striking the right balance with contemporary-urban edutainment content in that city is Amazing Ekedebe. Her shows on Magic102.9FM are the perfect-dose of what premium radio programs should sound like. In terms of delivery, this lady is living an enviable-broadcasting career.

“On radio I’m known as Amazing! My style is spontaneity, unconventional and engaging. I’m all about looking at issues from the other side of it. I’m a graduate of English / Literary Studies from Imo State University. On Magic103.9Fm, I host the Afternoon Drive Show, weekdays 12noon- 3pm which is a mixed grill of new songs debut, trends, gossips and a splash of odd conversations that gets listeners surprised yet keen to be a part of. I also host the female centered show called FEMINIQUE, Tuesdays: 1pm -2pm which is personal for me because it’s an avenue to spotlight on uncommon yet important factors of womanhood especially with the mounting pressure and changes of the 21st century woman.

As a person, I’m a bit of both worlds – reserved yet an extrovert, a girl who loves God. Outside the noise and madness of the hustle and roller-coaster of the broadcasting career, tranquility and being in my space is what keeps me sane as well as inspires whatever I do in the outside world.

I love dancing, reading/writing, good conversation and friendship. I’m a native of Imo state, and the only daughter in my family. Growing up was a versatile experience from living in various parts of the country within and outside Nigeria to being a very sheltered child yet growing up in the midst of adults, being a spectator to the travails and perks of the adult life plus my upbringing was centered on Independence and principles especially from a father with zero tolerance for weakness and a supportive mother yet highly protective.

I’d say growing up was a very mixed phase because it was childhood with a touch of adulthood all the way. All of those stages gave birth to my desire to be a broadcaster – the opportunity to express myself to the fullest and make a difference without limits.

The 9 – 5 sort of job was never for me as I hate restrictions and being controlled (I’m too restless for all that). It’s all about being myself in all shades of it – weird / deep thinker / love to enjoy what I do plus the consciousness that what I do is touching someone’s life and identifying with their plight – that’s a priceless blessing I always cherish. For me, broadcasting is more than just an art or a career; it’s a way of life. I cherish everyone I’m living these moments with” – Amazing Ekedebe
