Childish Gambino Reportedly In legal battle with his record label

So far, 2018 has been a great year for Donald Glover a.k.a Childish Gambino until this news filtered in. The iconic ‘This Is America’ and Atlanta super star may be having a major issue in his music career

Donald Glover’s record label, Glassnote Entertainment Group, is suing him for allegedly cutting them out of streaming profits. According to TMZ, Glassnote claims that the “This Is America” rapper, who performs under the name Childish Gambino, failed to pay up, despite netting more than $700,000 in streaming royalties.

In the suit, Glassnote reportedly points out that it paid Glover close to $8 million in royalties and intends to pay him another $2 million over the next few months. The company also says that it obliged Glover when he demanded $1.5 million to settle a discrepancy over streaming royalties, TMZ reports.

Glover signed with Glassnote in 2011, and has released all three of his studio albums (Camp, Because The Internet, and Awaken, My Love!) under the imprint. But the relationship between Glassnote and Glover has been rocky for several years. In 2014, the Atlanta star tweeted his frustrations with the label’s promotion of his music. At the time, Glover felt like Glassnote didn’t make him a Piority because he’s not “loud, or outrageous, or a white girl with a big a**.” Glover pleaded to be bought out of his contract, though he went on to release his third album with Glassnote in 2016.

His career has of course blown up since then, thanks in part to his Grammy-winning single “Red Bone,” along with the success of “This is America.” Glover is also a hit on the small screen, as writer and creator of the FX series Atlanta, and his film career isn’t doing so bad either.
