DAISY AKPOROKAH IS ON COURSE TO ACHIEVE SUCCESS IN THE MODELLING INDUSTRY

As a kid, I would dress myself up in different clothes and pretend I was at a shoot or on the runway. I’ve always wanted to be a model – Daisy Akporokah

Suffice to say, we are all models to our individual destiny. In my several years of writing editorials on the modeling industry, it’s sad to noticed that some potential qualified models fell off a cliff due to the pressure of not fitting in one hundred percent into all the general statistics of what an assumed ideal model is suppose to be but this lady right here is an exception. With statistics that reads, height -5:8, bust – 35, waist – 26 and hips – 36, Daisy Akporokah has strong conviction about her dream of becoming a top model; she’s on course to achieve that feat in the modeling industry.

When you watch Daisy Akporokah on runways or in photo session, you will agree with me that this lady comes with something fresh, something unique the modeling arena is on the lookout for

According to a quote, “The secret of modeling is not being perfect. What one needs is a face that people can identify in seconds; you have to be given what is needed by nature, and what’s needed is to bring something new to the game”. When you watch Daisy on runways or in photo session, you will agree with me that this lady comes with something fresh, something unique the modeling arena is on the lookout for. “As a kid, I would dress myself up in different clothes and pretend I was at a shoot or on the runway. I’ve always wanted to be a model’- she was once quoted.

I attended secondary school in Benin. It was an only girl’s boarding school. For six years I did what every student does, study. But I never forgot what I wanted to be.

“I always loved trying on clothes and showing people how they looked like put together. My mother would buy some clothes that time just so I could have fun pretending I was on the red carpet or at a fashion show. So right from my childhood days, I knew I wanted to be a model. But I had no idea how to go about it.   I attended secondary school in Benin. It was an only girl’s boarding school. For six years I did what every student does, study. But I never forgot what I wanted to be.

I finished secondary school at the age of 15. I gained admission into the University of Benin that year to study English and literature education. At this time, I did some runway at a church but it was nothing major. It still meant a lot to me anyways. I was on the look out for an agency I could sign to. At the end of my first year, I discovered HI model management (formerly known as house insane). I love their vision and I joined them. Things were rough but we moved through that. My parents have not been totally on board with my career but my mother is more comfortable with it. I’m 18 now and it’s been two years since I started modelling officially.

My inspiration comes from within actually. There are a lot of standards
that have been set in the industry that a lot of models are forced to
conform to but I always say to myself “Daisy, just do it. So what if you’re
an inch shorter? You are going to stand out.”

I always like to think positive thoughts and hope for the best. I’m not afraid to work hard and I
love being busy, having shoots, runway shows. So I push myself. I’ve come to
accept my flaws and confidently push through. I won’t say I aspire to become the next Tyra Banks although she is one of my role models. I want to be a brand of my own. A model highly sought after. I aspire to become a supermodel that stands out in a crowd of supermodels. And I’m willing to walk really hard towards that dream. My role models are Tyra Banks, Coco Rocha, Gigi Hadid and Jeana Turner” – Daisy Akporokah
