FINALLY, REEKADO BANKS IS RAKING IN ALL THE APPLAUSE
Somehow, that old saying ‘The patient dog eats the fattest bone’ is
still very applicable. For those who knew from the get-go that this
lad is a bunch of talent, it was hard watching him play second fiddle
to some of the artistes that trended earlier at Mavin records. But as
we all know, life has many twists and turns. Opportunity comes, all we
need do is be prepared and take full advantage when we can.
With the amount of chart topping materials churned out by Reekado and
the level of influence made on all the songs he has been featured on,
it’s no more a matter of assertions, it’s crystal clear that the
narrative from the beginning that says he’s one of the most talented
and versatile male artistes signed by Mavin is a pure fact. While the
radio can’t get enough of ‘Like’ featuring Tiwa Savage, let’s take a
seat, grab some popcorn and soda as I go through my list of songs
blessed with Reekado’s voice.
For me, ‘Problem’ and ‘Easy’ (Jeje) are both as infectious as any hit
song ever produced in this country. It shows how versatile ‘Reeky’ is.
‘Oluwa Ni’ and ‘Ladies and Gentlemen’ were like alcohol; every sip
significant. That song grows on you and stays on like a tattoo. ‘Move’
featuring Venessa Mdee, is like a perfectly mixed cocktail. His
feature on ‘Jawon Laya’ by Illbliss was one of the game changing songs
for Oga Boss in 2017. I could go on and on, but I will leave the rest
of his great songs for you to fill your own list. From all said, it’s
easy to deduce that 2018 is going to be the year of the Reekado
because, finally, Ayoleyi Hanniel Solomon is raking in all the
applause due to him. ‘Spotlight’ vindicates his effort.
