than the general routine of getting a degree and a job’ – Lohis Ibukun Aruya

There’s the general saying in America, ‘Ask not what your country will do for you; ask what you can do for your country’. For Nigerian to achieve global success, everyone must continue to contribute his or her quota. This young lady I am introducing to you is doing a great job for the modelling industry and needs to be encouraged.

‘My name is Lohis Ibukun Aruya. I’m 19 years old from Owan East Local Govt
Area Of Edo State. An entrepreneur and 200 level student of the department of
linguistic studies university of Benin. I currently run Germians modelling academy with 50 models and 15 team members that includes my fitness trainers and catwalk trainers. I’ve always known that for me, there was something more
than the general routine of getting a degree and a job.

 

I have always wanted more for myself. I was once into blogging, selling of wears, baking. My intentions were just to get something doing instead of laying low. Concerning modeling and my modeling academy, the Journey started October 2016 when I decided to go for Miss UNIBEN. I made it simply because I was bored of my class routines. I just needed something and till now I don’t know why I chose pageantry because it doesn’t make much sense to anyone since I never really knew much.

I made it to the final. Although I didn’t get the crown, I found True Success. At the end of the pageant, I understood clearly that models weren’t whores or bimbos because clearly after the pageant I still had sense. I became way more confident and had no stage fright compared to the me I was. I learned to be strong and be one who sees the good side of everything. During that time, I came in contact with a book that changed me totally.   I had to read the book titled “The Steve Jobs Way”. After reading, I knew what I wanted to do and had enough confidence. In terms of passion, Steve Jobs became My Role Model. I decided to start a modeling
academy to help student models that aimed at being top models and also help
out with event planning for shows organized by students.
My parents didn’t like the idea. They felt it’d be better if I just chilled so I could get done with school and do whatever I felt like. But I knew I could drop out if I don’t do something useful with my life. Gemians Services became my first real business I was passionate about. Gemians means rare gem, unique people, people with a difference and high standards. I’m known for my academy than my event planning or other things. The modeling academy is a game changer for all students’ models who want to aim for the skies.
