A Mastermind is Mr 2Kay, and his city Port Harcourt, Bonny Island. Or the Waterside like it is popularly called is forever where his heart lies. Having tolled and struggled in this city, where he worked jobs to save money for his education, and from all his hustle and struggle he is the Mr 2KAY we see on our screens and on international platforms. With humble beginnings and a story that can ‘ginger’ any young music inclined lad from the South South, he is for sure a King, he overcame all his difficulties and made something out of himself. He made an international brand, a music saviour from the South.

Abinye David was born and raised in Port Harcourt by a single mother, his love for music resonated after he got a wind of the highlife music his mother always played, while hawking food for his mother.
After facing so many trying times in his city, inadequate funds for a proper education, job seeking and so many woes, but in the year 2010 he was picked up by Grafton Records and the rest they say is history.

5years down the line, he is a force to be reckoned with; with so many hit singles and international features, in the UK. He is one truckload of dreams and opportunities.

One of his prominent singles, ‘Bubugaga’ got playlisted in mainstream UK radio stations of the likes of Kiss fm, Capital Xtra and at one time became the weekend anthem on BBC 1xtra radio. It also got played on Mtvbase UK, Channel 4 music and was reviewed by Mobo awards as the hottest afro beat record in December 2013. He also got reviewed by mainstream UK press the Daily Mirror giving him 4 stars for his single; ‘Bubugaga’ in 2014.

I remember sometime last year his record label released a statement, saying their projection for Mr 2Kay’s brand was to make him an A list artiste by the year 2016. Well, what can I say?
They are doing a very fine job for this man; his music is one that will stand the test of time.

His recently released visual to the sexually steamed single; ‘Bad Girl Special’ remix, with Seyi Shay and Cynthia Morgan is everywhere. On all charts and on your favourite OAP’s track list, just tune in to any station and you hear the sonorous chords.

2015 is looking like a really great year for MR 2KAY, and it is safe to say that he is indeed a Mastermind, with his charity works he does annually at the waterside, constantly giving back to his city. Isn’t this the status of a true King?
