One of the positives and takeaways from the COVID-19 global pandemic shutdown is that it allowed so many people to have a go at some of the reputable online talent competitions. Budding actors like Omeya Chinemerem took part in the Qtaby Online Talent Show. She came out as the second runner up and had the whole industry interested in her craft. This talent search competition started on April 27th and ended with the announcement of the winners on June 11th, 2020. With a short film now credited to her name as a director and lead actor, Chinemerem is soaring high. She has become a gem.

“My name is Omeya Chinemerem, I’m 23 years old, and I’m a graduate of the University of Nigeria, where I studied Home science Nutrition and Dietetics. I’m an aspiring Actor and an event Host. I love to entertain people and put smiles on their faces with the help of entertainment. As a participant at the just concluded Qtaby Online Talent Show, it was fulfilling. After making it to the top 15 contestants, I knew I had a massive talent in me and was not ready to give up.

Out of hundreds of entries, I made it to top5, it was an exciting moment, but I knew I had to keep getting better with my acting craft. All the contestants were requested to get views, likes, and comments for the final stage for the entries we submitted, and it was another different level cos I had to think of ways to make people watch and engage in my video. I had fun, and I learned a lot, and making it to 3rd position is more than a dream come through, cos this is a bigger platform, and I had a lot of people view and like my craft, it meant soo much to me.” – Omeya

The organizer of the event is Victoria Remi Nkong. She’s an entertainment industry specialist in Africa. The judges are a group of puppet masters across the African entertainment and art industry – Efe Omorogbe (A Music Business Executive), Ace actor Kenneth Okolie, veteran actor Femi Branch, Bimpe Akintunde, musician Harrysong, French singer and one of the judges on The Voice – Hiro, Uganda Media Executive – Denzel, actor and media executive – Yaw Naija, and Ace Comedian – Mc Tagwaye.
