As the daughter to an ex-dancer of Fela, Oluwapelumi Akinyemi a.k.a Lumie had developed a passion for showbiz from her childhood days. Presently, she’s among the most requested music video models. “I started modeling as a hobby. Back then, I watched so many music videos and I remember mimicking all the video vixens in it. In 2015, after my graduation from Covenant University, I took up modeling professionally and also do my hair job as a side hustle. It has been an interesting ride thus far” – Lumie
In 2016, she got her first video gig. “I was glad I could look forward to making money off something I liked and enjoyed doing. Being able to get income from this profession to sort my bills, invest in my hair art and explore other channels of the industry was what drove my interest. But as it is, the industry for Hip-hop music video models needs to do more to become a mega brand. Models will need to work harder to build this brand. Rome wasn’t built in a day. Someday, we will all enjoy the proceeds. ” -Lumie
