Rick Ross Admits Codeine Abuse Led To His Hospitalization

With the release of his new memoir, Rick Ross came clean about what led to his hospitalization and a near-death experience, saying it was seizures due to codeine abuse, that led to the incident.

The revelation comes as Ross is releasing a new memoir, ‘Hurricanes: ‘My Life Is a Movie.’ The book includes stories of Rick’s childhood in the 1980s in a tough part of Miami Gardens, Florida—to his rise to a hip-hop legend.

The rapper told People in a new interview, he was in terrible shape and woke up in the hospital surrounded by people like a “VIP.” When I woke up in the hospital and I had so many people around me, so many homies, it felt like I was in V.I.P. or some s—,” he told the magazine.

“It was the codeine,” he confirmed. Saying he began using the prescription opioid cough recreationally, but eventually turned to large quantities to “cope with stress.”
