ROSEMARY CHIOMA IS ALL FOR DANCE

‘..My journey as a dancer started long ago as I’ve been dancing since I was a
little girl. I remember I usually came back home with gifts as best dancer
for every birthday party I went to when I was younger..” – Rosemary Chioma

I guess we are not celebrating enough the changes we are experiencing in
our society and in the entertainment industry. Every young kid these days
can openly discuss the idea of choosing a career as a deejay, performing
artiste, illustrator and even the idea of enjoying a career as a dancer.
Hell would have broken loose several years ago if any kid dared talk about
such. Considerably, the society has moved on from the ways we used to think
and see things, so as well is the new generation. They are moving on and up
to actualizing their dreams in the entertainment industry. Rosemary Chioma
Ofoegbu, daughter to ex-Airforce father and her mother who’s a retired
Director of Education with the Lagos State Ministry of Education, is one of
the dancers in the system today enjoying the chunk of the national cake.

This nineties babe, who studied Forestry and Wildlife Management from the
Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Ogun State, has worked as a
dancer for a handful of  Nigerian entertainers. ‘I have worked with Skuki,
Jaywon, Sean Tizzle, Danny Young, Omo Akin, Skales, Rayce, Saheed Osupa,
Seyi Shay, Ms Bodega and Timaya to name a few. I performed at the GoTv
Boxing Tournament 2016 as a Cheerleader and also did a TV commercial for
The Big Brother Naija 2017 show for Payporte.’  – Rosemary reveals.

The journey as dancer and the projects I have worked on till date?

‘My journey as a dancer started long ago as I’ve been dancing since I was a
little girl. I remember I usually came back home with gifts as best dancer
for every birthday party I went to when I was younger. So dancing for me
has always been fun. Growing up I joined the choreography group ‘JOAD’ (Jars
of Anointing Dancers) in church, Christ Embassy, Abule Egba, Lagos. It was
after one of our performances in church that I was discovered by one of the
organizers of the then TV Reality Show ‘House 4.’ They needed dancers to
feature in a movie alongside the winner of the show so my group was picked.
It was after then I started getting other job offers like performances in
clubs & shows but my parents wouldn’t allow me go to clubs for performances
because I was very young. I did some videos for some upcoming artistes then
until I got an offer to work with the Yahoozee Crooner, Olu Maintain.

‘Working with Olu Maintain was a great opportunity for me as I learnt a lot
during that period. I got other jobs and kept on learning. I joined Stunt
101 Entertainment; they had a crew managed by Edike Emili a.k.a Puffy.
Shortly after then I gained admission so I had to leave Lagos for Abeokuta.
While in school I had to balance education and showbiz. It wasn’t really
easy as both were quite demanding. So I then concentrated more on my
studies. Back in school I was always part of organizers of several events.
I was contracted to help bring artistes for performances.’

Any personal project you are working on now?

‘After school I decided to start my company “Dancetrepreneurs” due to my love
for dance and showbiz as a whole. We kicked off officially February 2017.
The company majors in dance i.e. Dance Agency & Consultation. We are also
into visual productions, artiste performance management, and talent
management. We also take dance classes for schools and private dance
classes for individuals.’
