2006 Channel O Africa Music Video Awards – The Start Of Nigerian Dominance
The perfect historic representation of the dominance of Nigerian artists and their music in Africa and beyond started 2006. That year is the most significant for any historian documenting the influence of this modern day industry.
In terms of awards as rewards for artists influence all over Africa, for the first time in history, Nigerian entertainers and their music lay claims to most of the awards during the 2006 Channel O Africa Music Video Awards (Spirit Of Africa Music Video Awards) in South Africa. That was the year we won most awards and the rise of the likes of Modenine, 2Baba, D’banj, Weird Mc, Lagbaja and Darey began in the industry.
I was privileged to be at that event held in Johannesburg. It was one of the happiest moment for the artists and the industry. I will share with you some of the photos I captured 13years ago.
