AMUSA DAMILOLA IS A MODEL TO LOOK OUT FOR
Models are one of the most unsung heroes that contribute to the success of brands all over the world. Marketing teams receive accolades when a brand crosses beyond its set target, but one of the reasons why the product gets more appeal are the models used for illustrations. Apart from the Tom, Dick and Harry that show up, as models in their roles as vixens or on some corporate calendars, there exist models professionally trained in this part of the world. Damilola, a native of Lagos state, is one of those few that are currently ticked as professionals in this field.
Kindly introduce yourself?
My name is Damilola Amusa, I am 19 years old and a student of National Open University Nigeria. I am a Nigerian model, one thing about me is that I love modeling and I’m ready to dedicate my time and energy to it. I represent Catch 22 Model Management in Nigeria, my dream doesn’t just stop in Nigeria; I want to model in other countries like Milan, Paris, New York, Cape town, etc. Apart from modeling, I am also a very big fan of music, just that I can’t sing…lol. I attended school of modeling by Few, where I had a two weeks training by Uju Marshall, she is one of the top models in Nigeria. Before the school of modeling I had done some jobs but I just need a steppingstone and also the theories of modeling.
What are the ups and downs you have experienced so far?
I have had men tell me they would help me reach where I want to reach, some would say they would get me big jobs while some would say they would link me up, but at the end of the day they would say nothing goes for nothing. And ask me to be on their beds before they would help me. It’s crazy you know and you find young girls falling victims because of their love for fame.
What jobs have you done so far?
I have done a rape campaign shoot, I have done a Chiviva hair campaign shoot, I have done a look book for a fashion designer, etc.
Who are those that inspire you in your business?
First of all I give it all to Uju Marshall, because she trained me and showed me an amazing part of modeling. I also love the likes of Agbani Darego, Oluchi Onuigbo, Gigi Hardid, Kendal Jenner, Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, etc. If I am to keep going I’m sure I won’t end.
Are you with any agency now?
My modeling agency is Catch 22 Model Management; one of the best, words can’t explain all I have learnt. My manager is one wonderful person, and the models in my agency are incredible.
Where do you see your brand in the nearest future?
I’m sure in the next 5 years modeling would be the next big thing in Nigeria, whereby people would treat and respect us. Note – I just want to say models are not prostitutes.
