April Maey’s EP “Ticket To Anywhere” – A Mash-up Of Pop And Jazz
Diversity is one of the elements that make the music industry so exciting. Artiste April Maey exhibits multifariousness in her newly released EP titled Ticket To Anywhere. “This is an Alternative project, whose name is inspired by Tracy Chapman’s song “Fast Car.”
This 5-track EP is a mash-up of pop and jazz undertones.
“The project represents my bravery and diversity in the sense that I’m willing to drift between multiple genres and creative fields/processes. It’s a representation of my strong stubbornness in chasing my dreams, and my goal to express myself anyway and every I can.”
Christened April Somi Dokpesi, she’s an Alternative Nigerian musician based in Gent, Belgium. With a master’s in New Media and Society at the VUB in Brussels, Belgium, April who has garnered applause from working with Artists like MI Abaga, Loose Kaynon, Boogey, Ycee, Koker, Reinhard Tega, Yung L, Poe, Oxlade, released her debut EP on the 27th of March 2020.

With tracks like Sunshine, All That Energy, Somebody, Nothings Is Over, and Starry Night, she effortlessly expresses her uniqueness. “The EP itself is inspired by various musicians like Asa, Frank Ocean, Sade, Erykah Badu, Lauryn Hill, Brandy, Khalid, and many more.” If music fans are looking for good music outside the norm, all the songs in the EP “Ticket To Anywhere” will make for a good listen.
