Although the fashion industry is filled with potential models but only a few could morph looks for various designers on runways with elegance, fastidiousness and class like Barbara Lawal. Standing 5’8, size -6, Bust -32, Hips – 35, Shoulder – 14 and Waist – 28, her professionalism is contagious.
Despite not coming from the flashy backgrounds like the Gigi and Bella Hadid or Kendall Jenner of the fashion industry but her wiliness to glow during ramp walk like all of them ladies mentioned can’t be questioned. Barbara is focused as she climbs her way to the summit in the modeling and fashion industry.
“My full names are Barbara Tony Lawa. Born and raised in Abuja, I’m a graduate of Federal polytechnic Bida. I studied mass-communication. I’m from a family of 6, the third of the bunch. Growing up was fun and interesting, I got to explore life as a kid and the memories warmed my heart.
I have always wanted to be a model, watched a lot of fashion TVs growing up, and got intrigued by the glitz and glamor. I remember playing dress-up and getting accolades from my family and neighbors on how modeling was a befitting career path for me. So I decided to try it out and the journey has been beautiful and interesting.
The journey has been surreal. I have worked with and represented many brands that I could only dream of growing up. I have participated in numerous fashion shows like the Nigerian Fashion Show, Vlisco Fashion Show, African Hair Summit, FADAN Fashion Week, Fashionable Christmas, Selasi Fashion Show, Showcase For Governors and Ministers’ Wives, Tamarri Festival, etc. I have also worked with the likes of Nippon Grande Hotel, Charley boy, Angel Twani , My Win, and many others.
The plan is to be consistent and achieve all my goals. I want to make a lasting impact in the Nigerian fashion industry and globally. My role model is Naomi Campbell, so all she is I hope to be and much more.
