Basketmouth Published Two Chat Topping Songs ‘Ghana Jollof’ & ‘Your body’ In One Month
Basketmouth, a signee of Empire Music, has up the ante in the Nigerian music industry by releasing two chat topping songs in a single month. Hardly has any top-dog musician achieved such a feat in the last decade. On September 1, the rapper-cum-comedian-actor released the acclaimed song titled “Ghana Jollof” featuring Falz, Kwabena Kwabena, and Duktor Sett. He followed up with a sophomore titled “Your Body” featuring Buju on September 14. With lightning speed, both songs gained traction and ranked on chats across the country.
“Ghana Jollof” is a single from a forthcoming soundtrack album of a show with the same name that premiered on October 22. The song has legendary Nigerian/Ghanaian highlife guitar strings and bass saxophone undertones mixed with top-notch hip-hop punchlines.
The song is basically about two young Nigerians and their quest to make it inside Ghana. The show attempts to blend Nigerian & Ghanaian cultures – celebrating both countries through a sitcom that captures what unites/divides us. ’Your Body’ featuring Buju is a feel-good Afro-pop tune to vibe to all time. It’s off the forthcoming album “Horoscope”. Duktor Sett produced both songs.
