David Garland Debut EP “Boy Enough” Is Soulful & Heartfelt Good Music
Although the David Garland debut EP titled “Boy Enough” is a retro melodic tempo reminiscent of some of the best 80ies music that resonates to date, its delivery is faultless. This EP “Boy Enough” is unlike anything you’ve heard from the Nigerian music industry in a long time. In an industry dominated by Afrobeats and more familiar-sounding R&B and hip-hop records, it stands out, immersing itself in 80s-inspired sounds and the type of pensive, slow-brooding ballads popularized by artists like Sam Smith.

The three-track EP contains tracks like “Boy Enough” and two versions of another track titled, “Eyes on You”. The track “Boy Enough” is slow and emotion-soaked, and showcases deft songwriting from Garland, who touches on themes of unrequited love, insecurity, and inadequacy within a relationship in the song. The other song “Eyes on You” conversely, is a more upbeat record that sees Garland wax lyrical about a love interest, with whom he is thoroughly enamored. With this EP laced with some beautiful falsetto, it’s eargasmic – I rate it 90.
