Extraction 2 is officially Netflix’s biggest movie premiere of 2023, and the film even beat one of the streamer’s biggest 2022 releases. Starring Chris Hemsworth as mercenary Tyler Rake, Extraction 2 is a follow-up to the streamer’s hit 2020 action flick. The sequel is once again helmed by stuntman-turned-director Sam Hargrave and has earned mostly positive reviews, with the consensus being that it’s largely better than the first.

The film is the streamer’s biggest movie debut of 2023, beating the Jennifer Lopez action movie The Mother. The sequel was watched 42.8 million times during the first three days of its release, putting its total global watch hours at 88 million. This debut is greater even than 2022’s Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery‘s 82.14 million hours, but falls just short of last year’s The Gray Man, which scored 88.55 million hours.
