EY – WILL HE BE AMONGST THE ILLEST ARTISTES IN THE COMING MONTHS??
Music has always been an integral part of my life. Born into a family that loves music, I grew up listening to great musicians such as Michael Jackson, Lionel Richie, 2pac, Stevie wonder, Fela, Sir Shina Peters, Bob Marley, Onyeka Onwenu

By the time I am done writing this editorial and you are through reading and listening to this artist’s song ‘Wavy City”, knowing that you folks are very musically inclined, I guarantee we will all come to the same conclusion that Ernest E. Oyakilome known by his stage name EY, is definitely one artist that will take the Nigerian music industry by storm in the coming months.
Nothing compares to the pleasure I get when I am introduce to a new talent reminiscent of the first day I listened to some of my favorite Nigerian artistes topping charts in and out of the country. That guts feeling that tells me “Yo, this artiste is unique, this song is good and will go places”, has never failed me; and not now that the same thoughts is running through my mind concerning EY and his single ‘Wavy City” featuring Nanya. I’m not a clairvoyant but considering the pattern in the music industry in the past, this lad will become one of the illest artists in 2019.

“Music has always been an integral part of my life. Born into a family loves music, I grew up listening to great musicians such as Michael Jackson, Lionel Richie, 2pac, Stevie wonder, Fela, Sir Shina Peters, Bob Marley, Onyeka Onwenu just to name a few. The consumption of these ecliptic sounds formed the foundation of my music journey. From singing or free-styling rap lines, I’m just the mastermind of the sound running through my mind. If I feel it, I will deliver it. My love for the craft is overwhelming.

“Wavy City” came about at a particular time in his life where things were not
just where they were meant to be. I knew the ideas and goals were set, but
there wasn’t any means to bring them to fruition. Money was a big deal and
still is. The right connection to bring my dream to reality was a huge
one too. So when my producer Jethro Beatz came up with the instrumental to this song, my mind connected and I jumped on it. This Afro-pop song with undertones of eastern highlife is for all optimistic people out there. We will all live our dreams someday” – EY
