‘GLOBAL SOUND’ PARTY IN 2004 – The Brand That Transformed Music Videos In Nigeria
In hindsight, 15years ago, the evolution of Nigerian music video to a premium brand won’t have been possible without the yardstick created by Kwame’s music television program called Global Sound. This show did not just set the standard in terms of how music program should be packaged for TV; they demand that artistes up their game when it comes to the music videos they will summit for airing. That demand for creativity set the standard for music video production in Nigeria.
Years before Soundcity, Trace and MTV Base made entrance into this industry; Global Sound developed the blueprint for music videos and music video program presentation. The first anniversary edition of Global Sound party held at White House, Toyin Street, Ikeja Lagos in the year 2004 was a gathering of the crème de la crème across the music industry. With performances from D’banj, Dr Sid, in attendance was Tubaba, DJ Jimmy Jatt, DJ Humility, Ruggedman, Olu Maintain, Lexy Doo, Tony Tetuila, Emete among the top dignitaries that memorable night.
