Guy Ritchie Bans Real Guns On Set Of New Movie
After the Rust shooting, director Guy Ritchie has elected to remove all real guns from the set of The Covenant. A story set during the War in Afghanistan, The Covenant revolves around the relationship between Sergeant John Kinley (Jake Gyllenhaal) and his translator, Ahmed (Dar Salim). As it is set during a modern war, guns are a staple aspect of the movie.
Every single gun in The Covenant, however, is secretly just Airsoft, as Ritchie told the media. Rather than risking unintended injury or deaths by keeping real guns on set, The Covenant uses only Airsoft weapons that are designed to look like real rifles. With only a gas discharge, the effect on-screen is unchanged, while it makes life for The Covenant’s cast and crew much safer. Check out Ritchie’s quote below:
