Halle Berry Will Star in Her Directorial Debut, ‘Bruised’
According to reports, Oscar winner and iconic actress Halle Berry is taking a moment to step behind the camera to create her feature directorial debut Bruised. She’ll also play the lead in the Michelle Rosenfarb–written drama about a woman named Jackie, aka Justice, a disgraced, failed MMA fighter. When her son, whom she abandoned years earlier, returns into her life, Jackie must face off against one of the toughest MMA stars in the world and rise to the challenge of motherhood.
To help her pull off what sounds like some epic fight scenes, Berry is enlisting the team who choreographs for the John Wick franchise. Fortunately the actress will already be on her A game when it comes to fitness—she’s currently doing John Wick 3: Parabellum opposite Keanu Reeves.
Production on Bruise starts in March 2019.
At this point in history, Berry is still the only black woman to win the Best Actress Oscar, for 2001’s Monster’s Ball. In addition to Wick 3, which hits theaters on May 17, 2019, she’ll also be star in Sony’s remake of the 1985 thriller Jagged Edge
