JP – The Rise of Another Superstar In The Nigerian Music Industry
From the first day I was privileged to listen to a long list of songs recorded by this lad, it took me less than two minutes to come to the realization that James Peters popularly known in the music industry as JP will grow into superstardom. Everything about his music, its uniqueness and the delivery has all the trappings of megastar. It’s reminiscent of how I felt the first day I listened to some of the greatest pop stars that are presently riding high on their A-game.
Despite the fact that his songs will arouse your love for Caribbean rhythm, JP’s music has its own identity. It’s pop music with undertones of Afrobeat mash-up with ghetto vibe from Ajegunle. Vocally and consciously, this artist does not
sound like a newbie. Although he was almost destined to be a footballer, but music came-calling for this native of Ohafia local government in Abia state. From the day in 2017 when he stepped into the studio to record, it was inevitable that the bookies penned him down as another music idol on the rise in the Nigerian music industry. You will be held spellbound listening to him.
JP’s debut single ‘Simiya’ is like a wrecking ball gradually knocking down every song from the music charts. The song is produced by North Boi who is credited for producing Wizkid’s monster hit titled ‘Soco’. Signed to Unlimited Benjamins Records(UBR), JP is a young lover boy. One that is playful but hardworking. He’s a lover and not a fighter; thinking of what Wale represents in Hip-hop music, that is what JP is to pop music in Nigeria. His music makes one appreciate beauty, love, and all the beautiful things life has to offer. Currently on media rounds and popping up at shows all around the country, JP is definitely heading for superstardom.
