Lade – Meet The Emerging Songster & Merchant Of Melodies
Omolade Oyetundun, who goes by the alias Lade, is one of the voices that resonates in the country, yet, only a few can connect her voice to her face and name. She’s the lady that sang in the “444” Airtel jingle listed amongst the most popular commercials in Nigeria. As a fresh-woman in the Naija music industry, in late 2020, she released her debut single Smoov Groove. The song is currently used by the brand Smoov Chapman as their jingle. With a voice that hold’s one spellbound, Lade is one of the most respected emerging songsters.
A native of Kwara state, she was born in the Mushin area of Lagos state. She attended Amazing Foundation Nursery and Primary School, Mbari Mbayo Secondary School, and now a final year student studying Mass Communication at Better By Far University in Ilorin. When I gained admission to the University of Ilorin, I always wanted to perform to improve myself. In 2016, a friend of mine called Bakare Zainab, gifted a form to participate in UNILORIN IDOL. I entered the contest, made it to the finals without winning. Determined, in 2017, I competed and won.
In 2018, I auditioned for KWARA IDOL Season 1, and I emerged 4th. I wasn’t satisfied. So I went back into the competition in 2019. From the first day, I knew I was going to win. And Yes, I won. My journey went on a great trajectory when I decided It’s time for music professionally. So I started making deliberate moves and conscious efforts towards getting better. I was doing covers online, and I also worked at a lounge with a live band for a year in Ilorin despite being very young. I am very hungry for success. It’s an attitude that keeps me going to date.
If I am to describe myself, and my music, I will say, Lade, is not just the average artiste. I am the vibe, the mood muse, and the merchant of melodies. My personality says a lot about my music. I am a happy person, and I am quite emotional too. I love to have fun. So my genre of music is not stereotyped. I do a fusion of Afro-pop, highlife, RnB, and I can do other genres as well. It just all depends on my vibe. I am working on a whole lot of materials. I am taking the time to record some fantastic projects that would be coming out soon. You all should get ready for the Lade brand. It’s a full package.
