LET’S HAVE SOME MAKEUP WITH JAMILA JASMINE
‘Makeup is magic to me. And I feel honoured whenever I hold the magic wands called makeup brushes and tools. I respect the fact that makeup can bring out the alter ego of anybody. It gives you a chance to express yourself in so many ways’ – Jamila Jasmine
As long as beauty is one aspect of life we all crave for no matter our status, It won’t be out of place to say that the business of beauty makeup as an art will continue to persist for a while. Presently in Nigeria, several professionals have taken this art and business to the next level. As a journalist engaged in several photo, video and movie shoots, I have come across very creative makeup artists that could compete with the best outside the shores of this country. Among the few exemplary ones is Jamila Jasmine Adamu. She’s the C.E.O of Blue Ruby makeup artistry and her works speak volumes. The congested nature of her industry did not affect her craft and ethics. She’s heavily sought after in and around the industry by those in need of her unique touch.
‘I am a fashion and special effects makeup artist. Growing up in a family full of artistes; music and fine art, I have huge respect for any form of art. I loved playing with colours and soon found out the impact colours could have on a person’s face if used properly. I love the fact that you can create just about anything with art’ – Jamila began as she let me into her world.
‘Makeup is magic to me. And I feel honoured whenever I hold the magic wands called makeup brushes and tools. I respect the fact that makeup can bring out the alter ego of anybody. It gives you a chance to express yourself in so many ways; when it’s used in movies, fashion or just for beauty enhancement for events or just a day/night out. I love what I do and I believe I have the coolest hobby in the whole world. In a couple of years, I would love Blue Ruby makeup to be a household name. I would so love to have my own cosmetics line. I want my products to be used to create magic. I want to have my place in the beauty and fashion world’ – she ended her story.
