Meg 2 (The Trench) Sees Jason Statham Battles The Biggest Meg Ever
Ahead of the 2023 released date, Warner Bros. shared have shared the trailer for Meg 2 where Jason Statham was seeing battling with the biggest Meg anyone has ever seen.
The trailer begins by going back 65 million years to a time when one species ruled the world; not dinosaurs, but the mighty megalodon. After the prologue, the trailer returns to modern day to tease the sequel’s action as multiple massive Megs are unleashed upon a research team and eventually, a beach full of civilians, all set to the tune of “Barracuda” by Heart.
The Meg 2 trailer reveals that Statham’s Jonas Taylor will once again be leading a daring research team on an exploratory dive 25,000 feet deep into the Mariana Trench where increased aquatic activity is being detected. After The Meg ending suggested that more than two megalodons escaped the trench, the trailer reveals that three massive Megs escaped the breach and are mercilessly devouring everything in their path. The Meg 2 trailer’s prologue also suggests it will feature some additional underwater prehistoric beasts, such as the Kronosaurus, taking another page out of Steve Alten’s source material, the 1999 novel The Trench.
