MI ABAGA VS VECTOR – Purification Of The Purge Is A Needless Hip-hop Battle
Although the release of #diss songs is not an isolated event in the hip-hop industry dating back to when young emcees sparred throwing hard-hitting #punchlines with the underlying motive to gain respect to be called the best lyricist but when their wordplay turns pool of blood, they woke up to realize they are more blocks needed to shelter families in black communities than to pull down walls. The likes of Jay-Z, Nas, Diddy, Rick Ross, Common, 50 Cent and Drake grew up and became moguls. Nowadays, hardly do you see the major rap names calling each other’s out on a song. It’s newbies looking for clout that take a swipe at them.
Just as rapper Eminem had his ‘Killshot’ to put Machine Gun Kelly to bed to rest the whole issue with 36 million views in 24 hours to become the biggest debut in You Tube’s history, with freestyles / #diss tracks like MI’s “Purification, Vector’s “The Purge” and “Tetracycling”, most folks by now knew who they rooted for and the number of downloads each recorded. Now let us end this needless hip-hop battle unless one of them is feeling like a newbie – clout chaser. MI Abaga and Viper Tha Viper are both heavyweight lyricist and poet- that’s the way it should remain.
We know there’s no middle ground when it comes to fans but their shenanigans should not elongate this unnecessary beef. A sip of Hennessey or Martell, all is to get high. Let love rule.
