Morality is dead – More in the ilk of Wizkid and Tiwa Savage to Come
The last three days of solely feeding on the #STEW prepared from the stable of Wizkid and Tiwa Savage was an eye opener that reached an unbelievable #fever pitch. It drew me closer to accepting today’s reality. The world has changed and we all need change with it. Don’t hate the players, hate the game; we are in a new playing field dominated by the likes of the Kimkardashians, Amber Rose and Cardi B’s. Sex is the new currency in the entertainment industry, controversies are the weapons. That’s the business of the entertainment industry. That’s is just the way the industry runs.
One Wizkid video ‘Fever’ and four minutes open presumed demonstration of love affair within these two, the whole industry exploded into a divided industry with one half containing a few concerned with how public the rumored affair is playing out while on the other side, a legion of card-carrying fans embraced the act. Let’s us get this straight; with the new generation, morality is dead. We are in a new territory; Get on with it. Don’t be sneaking in loving Kim K’s moves but raising eyebrows on Wiz/Tiwa misdemeanor. That’s hypocritical.
If artists and their music are the moral compass and the indicator of where various generations stands at different times, the actions of Wizkid and Tiwa Savage morally reflect where this generations is at the moment and where we #goan be in the future. Back in the days when African countries were battling with colonization and misappropriation in governments, Reggae artists and their freedom songs was the indicator. With the Boom in oil revenue and high wages, Nigerian artists sang about merriment but now, the #hip generation is about freedom, drugs, sex and all the burdens that come with it. This is just the way things are. We can’t no longer hide under any pretext of being morally sound. More in the ilk of Wizkid and Tiwa Savage will play out publicly. We just have to deal with it. Welcome to the new world order. In Tiwa’s words “Eat this Pepper #Stew I’m Serving”.
