MR.2KAY IS ‘ELEVATED’ ON THIS ALBUM
“First of all, this album is a point of prayer to any and everybody that buys
it. I pray for Elevation in every area of your life” – Mr.2kay
The true gauge of a good artiste is a body of work in the form of an album.
While most artistes in this side of the world have shied away from that
responsibility, Mr.2kay has always manned up over the years. His debut
album ‘Waterside Boy’ was released in 2012. He followed up with an EP
‘Count It All Joy’ in 2015. His sophomore album ‘Elevated’
release on the 11th of February 2018 is one that has received great reviews
from various music critics. I asked 2kay about the ‘Elevated’ album during the album listening session held at Tilt Terrace, Lekki, Lagos.
What inspired the album?
‘My life, environment and circumstance inspired the album. Recording was fun
all the way for me. And I recorded “Pray For Me” first.
What will your audience take away from this album?
First of all, this album is a point of prayer to any and everybody that buys
it. I pray for Elevation in every area of your life. I am not trying to be
spiritual neither is the album a gospel album but I can tell you for free
that each song from this album will tell your story in a way you’ll be able
to relate with it. I’m serving a 14-track album and one bonus for the saxophone
or jazz lovers and I guarantee you that you will never regret buying this
album.
Talk about your journey from your previous album and EP?
From my first album till date, there has been a lot of changes and huge growth:
Especially, watching my fan base expand and the feedback from them. I’m very
thankful for their love. I’m also thankful for the record label, they gave
me a platform to soar and see the world. Leaving my birthplace to share my
craft with audiences from other regions is amazing. That’s why this
album is special.
