Mz Nyra – Refocusing On The Essence Of Hip-hop Music-Video Models
Depending how sincere you are to your objectivity, there’s no disputing the fact that hip-hop inclined music videos will look less attractive without the artistic representation of video vixen also called hip-hop honey, hip-hop music video model or video girl.

Like in any acting roles in movies, hip-hop music models are just interpreting the direction of artiste’s music content – it’s so stereotypical and subjective to label them promiscuous, unintelligent or vulnerable. Don’t blame the player; blame the game that often churns out music about hyper- sexualization of women bodies. But that said, shades of sex and love in music sells.
In trying to re-focus on the essence and fundamentals of hip-hop music video models, Alamutu Abiola a.k.a Mz Nyra is creating a movement tagged (#hiphopmodelbusiness ) to help shed more light on the fact that being a video girl is just a starting point for most models career path. The more they focus on venturing into other routes like acting, dancing, singing, presenting or becoming a commercial or fitness model, the more the society will realize there’s more to them than meets the eye.
But that said; there’s a need to keep the focus, learn more about the industry, treat the brand as a business and focus on expansion by creating a product unique enough to attract the business community in and outside the country. As long as urban music exists, there will be a need for video girl. It’s high time hip-hop music video models begin to spin and control their own narratives.
