R. Kelly Sexually Abused 14-Year-Old Cousin!

If you think R-Kelly is off the hook from battles in the court of law, his brother Carey is narrating case against him in the court of public opinion. During a lengthy interview earlier this week, Carey Kelly, accused his “demonic” older brother of sexually abusing (and possibly impregnating) their 14-year-old cousin.

“You give people chances to change before you put their business out there, before you actually say ‘enough it enough.’ Things happen in people’s lives to the point where you feel like it’s a wake-up call and now they get a chance to right their wrongs,” Carey said referencing the 1993 death of their mother, Joanne Kelly, and Aaliyah’s death in 2001.

Carey claims that his brother “became worse” after losing his mother and Aaliyah, and being acquitted in a 2008 child pornography case. The siblings apparently got into a physical fight at one point, after Carey allegedly confronted R. Kelly about going after little girls.  “I wasn’t condoning [his behavior],” Carey maintained, noting that he believed that R. Kelly was “trying to get some help.”

Carey didn’t explicitly call the “Pied Piper” a pedophile, but theorized that his targeting of young girls was a result of childhood abuse.

“Robert has a control problem. And the only reason why he targets little girls, now that I’m older, I understand. He was molested. I was molested [too], but I didn’t turn out that way,” Carey said before admitting that they were molested by the same person. “I became a protector of children. I didn’t want kids to go through what I went through…especially my daughters.”

About 15 minutes into the chat, Carey detailed the interaction that he allegedly witnessed between Aaliyah and R. Kelly, which he described as a creepy brother-sister relationship. “But at the same time it made you scratch your head,” Carey recalled. “He [was] overprotective of her when he shouldn’t be.”

“I picked it up when he was working on her album and he started producing ‘Age Ain’t Nothin But a Number.’ I’m listening to the [lyrics] and I’m paying closer attention to how they’re vibing..they’d be right next to each other, hugged up and different things of that nature,” Carey continued. “That didn’t seem right with him being the age that he was, and her being the age that he was.”

He claimed that when questioned about Aaliyah, R. Kelly denied they were more than friends. Kelly married Aaliyah, then 15 years old, in 1994 (her age was listed as 18 on the marriage certificate). The marriage was annulled in 1995.

Throughout the interview, Carey reiterated that he “no animosity” towards R. Kelly, though he did lash out at the singer for holding his career back and paying him only $250 a week to tour with him.

He went on to suggest that his brother was “demonic” and urged him to seek help. “Anytime a person lusts after a minor something is wrong with them.”

As for his own children, Carey said that R. Kelly never touched them inappropriately, but that they are being affected by the ongoing movement to #MuteRKelly. Subsequently, Carey called in for the interview to set the record straight for the sake of his children and to clear his own name, as well as plug his forthcoming book.

According to Carey, R. Kelly kept a bunch of “yes men” around who would gladly approach teen girls on his behalf. When asked if R. Kelly ever abused a family member Carey replied, “One, that I know of.”

The alleged victim was 14 years old when the abuse began. The family caught on when they noticed R. Kelly was spending time alone with the girl, Carey said. The victim, whom he would not name but hopes will share her story, gave birth to a child a few years later, Carey said.

When pressed, Carey could neither confirm nor deny rumors that R. Kelly fathered the underage cousin’s baby. “I can’t say…there hasn’t been any DNA for anything done.”

Carey also said that he understands why people have a hard time digesting the allegations, including members of his family. “A lot of people didn’t believe it because of who he is and that’s how he’s been able to sustain in this business as an artist and as human being [without] not being locked away,” he said. “It’s almost hard to believe that this icon, this superstar, would do things of that nature.”
