Real Skillz ‘The Real Deal’ On Max 102.3FM
Looking at the Nigerian radio broadcasting industry through the prism of OAPs, the inflow of new generation presenters like Ogundairo Oluwaseun, alias Real Skillz who works with Max 102.3FM, is an indication of the ongoing positive paradigm shift. Young, experienced, unorthodox, and entertaining, Real Skillz comes with a bundle of newness that will erase the stereotypical mannerism in some quarters of the industry. Co-host of the Max Hits Show Monday – Friday by 10 am – 2 pm, this lad has the attribute of being a genius broadcaster.
With a BSc degree in Microbiology, a postgraduate diploma in Mass Communication, and a Master’s degree in Public Relations & Advertising, all from the University of Lagos, with regards to being a well-informed broadcaster, Real Skillz is no pushover.
I already knew what I wanted out of life from a very young age.
I was a budding intern (unofficially) at Raypower 100.5FM Lagos. My uncle Jacob Imodume once worked as an electrical engineer at the station. I always loved sitting in the observation booth during the Kenny Ogungbe and Dayo Adeneye’s all-time popular program, Primetime Africa. As I watch them present the show, I always say to myself, that will be me someday.”
Real Skillz grew up in the Alagbado area. He was born in the Akoka vicinity. His journey into broadcasting started when he got admitted into the University for his first degree. “So once I got admission into the University of Lagos, I wasted no time joining Unilag Radio 103.1FM in my second year. Along the way, I also worked on getting more knowledge about my field. I attended the Nigerian Broadcasting Academy (Formerly FRCN). I also registered at the ProEmcees Academy. After attaining my Master’s Degree, I was employed at Max 102.3FM. I currently co-host the midday show, ‘Max Hit’ with my radio partner, the radio enchantress, Shine Begho.”
As a young OAP, being nominated for honors is one of the signs suggestive of how well you are fairing among your colleagues. Real Skillz was a nominee for OAP of The Year – City People Awards, 2019. He won Radio On-Air Personality of the Year – Africa Youth Choice Awards, 2013, and 2014. Also, he’s a nominee, Radio program of the year – Nigerian Media Nite-out Awards 2019. With the amount of work he’s putting in and the level of commendation he’s getting, Real Skillz is proving to be the real deal.
