Should We Normalize Sex Tapes or Stand Out Against It?
Oxlade’s alleged sex tape was one of the topmost conversations on social media, but ironically, it received less backlash compared to that of Tiwa Savage. The viral video of several male students jubilating and celebrating Oxlade’s sex moves in the porn-like video and the online comments supporting his actions raises the nagging question, should we normalize sex tapes or stand out against this kind of indecent exposure? Should we look away from this misdemeanor? Are we at that point of civilization where nudity is nothing but a freak show?
In the past months, the exhibitionism from Big Brother Housemates Cross and artist Portable coupled with the topical sex tape from Tiwa Savage and Oxlade might have opened a Pandora box of acceptable porn-like activities. Honestly, the entertainment industry is not a church, so let’s be careful of folks forming Holier-than-thou. Aside from that, should we decide not to speak against the actions of all the celebrities that create any alleged sex tape-like content that is spread all over on social media where younger children and teenagers also converge? Frankly, the elements of sex will always be amongst the driving force in the music industry. But we need to find a way to close the loose ends of the continuous sex tape releases.
