Tekno’s Revival: A Rare Rise From The Ashes

Although the artiste Tekno‘s latest single is called Sudden, his revival back to superstardom is the opposite – gradual but consistent. Despite the catastrophic vocal misfortune that hit him hard for months, defiantly, he beats the odds. Tekno’s rare rise from the ashes is extraordinary. The one that life once counted out has remained standing strong on billboards across the country as one of Pepsi’s ambassador. Anyone with empathy will understand that this is one of the biggest comeback stories in the Nigerian music industry.

The damage to his voice box crippled him for months. As at then, after visiting several doctors, hope was fading out. Still, he held on to faith. And in faith, he fought and battled despair for months. During those periods, he could not sing, produce songs, and no performances. And all he did were travel in and out of the country to continue to see doctors. The therapy and surgery worked.

He released the single “Woman” in January 2019. The song “Up Tempo” was published two months after. The release of the single “Better” marked his rise to stardom.

That single had many covers made across the country. On October 8th, 2019, he released the video for Skeletun. It was visually captivating. This video had everyone talking. Huge buzz.

Tekno also put out songs like Suru and Kata. He was also a featured artist in Beyoncé Lion King Album. American singer-songwriter Billie Eilish reveals Tekno is her favorite artist. Although still on the route back to greatness, his comeback is becoming groundbreaking. Considering his crisis was one of the most emotionally wrecking any artistes should go through, he never gave up on himself.

Tekno kept his focus simple – to become a superstar again. And he did achieve that. He took responsibility for his situation, and he won. In the spirit of the latest Pepsi advert payoff line, Na Your Life, Max Am.
