Released on the streaming service this past Mother’s Day weekend, the action-thriller stars Jennifer Lopez as an unnamed assassin known only as “the Mother” who reemerges after years of hiding to rescue her daughter after abandoning her years ago.

After premiering May 12 on Netflix, the Lopez-starrer has scored the streaming service’s biggest opening weekend for a film in 2023 to date. According to Variety, The Mother received 83.71 million viewing hours during the May 8 to 14 window with nearly 43 million total views. It also ranked as the top movie in 82 different countries.
