Tina Turner Talks About Son’s Suicide: ‘I Still Don’t Know What Took Him To The Edge’
Still wondering how it all happened, Tina Turner is opening up about her son’s tragic suicide this past July. 59-year-old Craig Turner was found dead in his home from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
In a recent interview with BBC News, the music superstar spoke about her son’s death, where she revealed she’s still unsure as to what lead to his suicide.
“I still don’t know what took him to the edge,” Turner said after revealing Craig seemed happy and optimistic in the weeks leading up to his death. “At that stage, he had said to me that he had never met a woman that he felt that way about.”
The “What’s Love Got To Do With It” singer revealed that her son was going to introduce her to his new girlfriend in August for his birthday.
“He had decorated his apartment that I bought him years ago,” she continued. “He had gotten a new job with a prominent real estate company in California, [which] he was very happy with…I have no idea what pulled him down, except something that followed him with loneliness. I think it was something with being alone. But when I think that, why didn’t he call the new girlfriend that gave him the lift?”
Turner said she thought back to their last conversations after his death, noting that she realized there was a shift him his demeanor.
“He was an introverted person, he was very shy, so I didn’t know either, except now when I listen back to our last conversations, I notice a change,” she revealed.
