The one very common tale about models and the modelling industry sometimes sounds like a cliché. If you are so beautiful, with broad shoulders, well-shaped backside, long legs and neck that fit perfectly, it will be hard not to have friends that will persuade you to give modelling a try. ‘You look striking, if you give modelling a shot and work hard, you could make it big’. I bet a lot of ladies with my earlier descriptions would have heard those words countless of times. But whoever says that argument can’t be true should come ask Winifred Chinenye Wealth Anwatu. This lady is a living testament. She’s living her dream as a model with contracts from telecoms and beverage companies at different times. Also most recently, she had another deal with an Energy drink. Welcome to the world of Winifred. She’s on her way up to El Dorado.

‘I was born and brought up in the North Kaduna to be precise (KD city) lol.
Growing up for me was amazing, especially because I had a large
family (3 beautiful sisters and 2 brothers). My parents were a little too
strict, never allowed us go anywhere on our own but we never missed out on
anything cause we were just the right amount of friends any child could ever
ask for. Fast forward to the university, I attended the Nnamdi Azikiwe
University Awka to study “English and Literature”. Somehow I always stood
out maybe it was because I acted very much like a Northerner or because I
looked a lot like them. Friends and basically everyone around me urged and
kept asking me to model because they thought I had a great face and a nice
body to go with it.

I started modelling immediately I found out that It could fetch me some
extra side money while I studied to get a degree. My first experience was
with the Miss Campus contest, which I lost sadly .lol in year 2012 though I
wasn’t funny to me then.  I can remember I kept crying for the next 2
days. Well slowly I began to get a few jobs here and there but I never
really did anything big until I was done with school and relocated to Lagos.
Lagos city really took my modelling dreams and career to the next level. I
landed my first TV commercial job for Airtel ‘facebook flex’, another
commercial for the Ministry of Tourism Nigeria, to one of my biggest jobs
ever.” Monster Energy Girl Contract”…and then a few months ago, the new
“Face of the prestigious CWAY on the go water”…sooo I’m on every new cway
branded Trucks and boards.

I feel like my career as a model just started though I have another
business of my own that I do, I’m very much of an Entrepreneur and
everyone who knows me well can bet that I work really hard as well.  One of
my biggest goals in life is to help better the lives of women who are
challenged, around the world especially in Africa. I’m starting a
project on that pretty soon. I also look forward to opportunities to be brand Ambassador for more reputably Nigerian companies.
