BURNA BOY AND LILY ALLEN KNOCKS ON ‘HEAVEN’S GATE ‘
One of my best pay-off lines from a Nike advert is the one that was used when Tiger Woods returns after several years to win ‘The Masters’. The line reads ‘Success takes care of everything’. The best of us as human being surfaces during and after surviving turbulence and obstacles. Despite all the drama around Burna boy, this new song featuring Lily Allen titled Heaven’s Gate feels like a classic.
This single off his upcoming album ‘Outside’ under Atlantic Records, is expected for release on the 26th of January 2018. The title ‘Heaven’s Gate’ gives this song a deeper meaning. If you are spiritual enough to know that when the windows of heaven opens, life becomes renew, unfathomable blessings and grace pours. Just imagine when Heaven’s gate open. Burna Boy and Grammy nominated British pop singer, Lily Allen, delivered on this song.
Heaven’s Gate’ is a fast tempo, a departure from Burna Boy’s usual
mid-tempo style. This dance-hall vibe certifies Burna as one of the artistes you can’t put in a box. His uniqueness reminds me of how the hip-hop duo Outkast keeps coming to us with vibes that are overwhelming and as well classic.
Burna Boy’s vocal as he sings in patois is eargasm. Injected with Lily Allen’s
peculiar singing style, it is a fine blend of cockney vibes and Indian
rhythm that gives the song a more diverse appeal.
Burna sings about his preparedness to go to great lengths in defense
of everything he holds dear and declares his willingness to
knock on heaven’s gate to protect them. Produced by Fred Gibson, Heaven’s Gate is accompanied by a colourful video with familial settings. The video was shot on location in the UK.
