Candy Bleakz, the rapper-cum-singer on the books of Chocolate City, is receiving rave reviews for her steady climb in the Nigerian music industry. And in the past twelve months, her career has transcended the cult hero status. ‘Fire‘, her debut 6-track EP, 16-minutes and 30-seconds, an array of street lingo lyrics and tales sequenced on Amapiano beats, is getting a lot of traction. With songs like ‘Red’, ‘Dragon Anthem’, and ‘Tikuku’, Candy Bleakz is fast becoming an icon for all aspiring young street hop female musicians.

As one of the unique talents from around the world spotlighted during the Grammy Recording Academy’s activation tagged ‘Global Spin’, premiered on Grammy.com in 2021, her electrifying performance of two songs, ‘Kope’ and ‘Kanle’ was outstanding. Featured on Google’s International Women’s Day campaign and their WNBA Women’s Month campaign, Candy is exhibiting her talents on the global stage. An AFFRIMMA nominee and winner of the Gbedu Awards, she’s receiving commendation for her efforts.

Christened Blessing Akiode, a native of Lagos state, through being patient and persistent, Candy Bleakz defied the odds on her route to the limelight. Nick-named the Lady Dragon, as in the movie how to train your dragon, painstakingly, she went through a lot discovering herself. On her journey, she became a petrol attendant and a member of the Yoruba hip-hop group the Street Billionaires. Her solo career began in 2020 with the single ‘Kelegbe’ on the imprint of Chocolate City. She has been soaring higher ever since then.
