Fiokee – MAN With The Magic Guitar Strings

One of the most prominent guitarists in the Nigerian music industry is Fiokee. He’s in the upper echelon with legendary instrumentalists like Tony Allen (Drummer) and keyboardist Wole Oni. In an industry like ours where instrumental composers play second fiddle to the performing artists that do the singing, but in Fiokee’s case, things are to the contrary. Distinctively, he has carved a niche for himself, commanding equal respect. His debut album called “MAN” is a testament to why he’s the man with the magic guitar strings.

For 22-years and counting, he has been playing the guitar. According to him, “I have always wanted to make a massive impact in the music industry. For over two decades, I have been fiddling with the guitar. But I came into the mainstream industry by winning the Star Quest talent hunt in 2008. I moved to Lagos after signing a one-year deal with Kennis Music. Then I recorded with D’banj on his song Scapegoat. I played on Davido (#Gobe), Kizz Daniel ( Woju, Laye), Tekno (Duro, Wash), Simi (Simisola Album) and Adekunle Gold (Gold Album).”

Since 2000 till date, Fiokee has played his guitar on 70% of the hit songs in Nigeria. “Considering all I have done, I decided to launch my indie label called Fiokee Records. In 2017, I began to feature artists in my songs. The success of those experimentation paved the way for the release of my debut 14-track album titled “MAN”, released this year. It’s a breathtaking album featuring some of the best Afrobeats artists in Africa. If you ask me how has the journey been thus far? It hasn’t been easy. I am the first guitarist to break into the mainstream industry. I am optimistic many other guitarists will follow suit.” He narrated.
