Bayern Munich have lodged a written ‘formal offer’ to sign Kane. Their bid is worth €70m plus add-ons of an unspecified amount. The base fee would equate to around £60m, which seems low for a player of Kane’s pedigree, but takes into account his age (he will be 30 by the start of the new season) and contract status.

It was not immediately clear from Ornstein’s breaking news if Tottenham would accept or reject the bid. But Plettenberg – who earlier said Bayern are hoping to secure Kane for a package under €100m – has followed it up by confirming Spurs have said no. Yet the wheels are in motion and Bayern have made their intentions clear, while Kane is also said to have clarified internally that he wants the move.
