Nneka Otubo – The Radio Paragon On Beat 97.9FM Abuja

It takes one listen to Nneka Otubo‘s voice on the radio for you to become her card-carrying fan. The sui-generis nature of her sweet conversation every morning on Beat 97.9FM Abuja is like having a crustacean meal on a yacht. Every word, every song she plays, and every opinion she churns out feels so good to the ears. Although she co-presents alongside Sheddy, nevertheless, she could hold her own. When one makes a list of the unassuming females on the radio, Nneka will be at the top of the chart. She’s a paragon.

An indigene of Ebonyi state, Nneka is a graduate of the University Of Benin with a BA in English And Literature. “My journey into broadcasting started from my days at the university. As an alumna of Auchi Polytechnic, I gain admission into UNIBEN as a 200 level student. While I was there, I had the aspiration of becoming a broadcaster. Also, I have had training as a voice-over artist with some radio folks in Lagos. In the pursuit of my passion in becoming OAP, I approach Rhythm FM Benin. After countless attempts, I was eventually allowed to intern. That was where my love for radio started and grew,” She narrates.

I’m currently at the Beat 97.9FM Abuja co-hosting the breakfast-show with Sheddy. He and I are friends first, then colleagues, so our chemistry is seamless. It’s almost like Magic. We are both funny and energetic, and our voices complement each other. Both of us are very articulate and resourceful. Our vibe is effortless. We balance each other out. Sooner rather than later, I know the stats will reflect that we have the #1 breakfast show in Abuja. Before working on the breakfast show, I have hosted the weekend shows for two years. At different times, I have ended up hosting all the programs at the station. It was a learning curve that has taught me a lot.” – Nneka
