Daisy’s “Fire Cracker” EP Is Hip-Hop Masterpiece

In America, debatably, It’s fair to say that some hip-hop artists with the most watered-down content have been winning the top honors at awards shows in recent times at the expense of those that deserve it. Thank God that Nas made a comeback with “King’s Disease II” to remind everyone what lyricism and a body of work should be. Arguably, in the same-vein, in Nigeria, Daisy‘s debut nine-track EP “Fire Cracker” is another hip-hop masterpiece. This project ticks all the right boxes with regards to hip-hop beats, lyrics, and hip-hop philosophy.

The songs in the EP are “Who Dey Zuzu”, “Fire Cracker”, “Lemon And Juice”, “Ima Kosi” Fantasize featuring Maynevent, “True Love”, “No See Road”, “Rest”, and “Never Quit”. Except for the track “Never Quit” and “True Love”, the incredible Major Bangz produces the other songs.

On this project, Daisy came out with all guns blazing. She started as a lyricist from the eastern region of Nigeria. Now she commands respect from every hip-hop head across the country. This native of Anambra state, real name Mgbodim Happiness, is about to take Africa by storm.

In talking about her journey thus far, she confesses, “It has not been easy, but I have kept the faith. From making appearances on Jimmy Jatt and Slimcase’s show, I have been privileged to record two songs – OT and Zelum Live at the Aux Africa show. Slimcase also featured me in one of his songs. My “Fire Cracker” EP, released on October 15, is my first offering to the world. All the songs in it mean so much to me. They depict every experience I have shared. The message is about my culture, love, and a never-say-die spirit”.
